For the mayor of the commune of La Grand-, it is “catastrophic”

“We had a lot of rescues and evacuations from Exbrayat college and Renée-Peillon school. We triggered the municipal safeguarding plan at 12:30 p.m. and we brought together the crisis unit at 1:30 p.m. We therefore have a collection standard to manage the population’s problems.

We have a lot of damage on the roads, the list of damaged roads is impressive, the manhole covers have been lifted and are proving dangerous. The streets of Péronière, de la Rive, de Farnay and de Sauzéa are closed to traffic.

Towards the Péronière, we had to evacuate a 91-year-old lady who had 2 meters of water in her home. In the same place, people were stuck on the roofs of cars. At 3 p.m., the Formula 1 hotel, located along the A47 motorway, was being evacuated: around sixty people will have to be rehoused. Evacuation is done by boat. At the IME, all the students still present are kept safe in the Blue Cedar room. There are currently around a dozen students remaining (3 p.m., Editor’s note).

No flooding on the flat side, but it is the Dorlay which has risen from its bed and the bank room is under water. The stormy rain wave returns at 6 p.m., so we close public facilities from 5 p.m. »
