Marquinhos and Zaire Emery unveil the new Ligue 1 trophy

Ligue 1 unveiled a new trophy to replace the hexagon, marking an evolution of its visual identity.

The monstrous, the hideous hexagonal, it’s over. At the end of the 2023/2024 season, PSG won their 12th French championship title, brandishing for the last time.

The new trophy, in gold and with a classic design, represents a smooth ball supported by four legs in the shape of the number 1, symbolizing Ligue 1. The base of the trophy is engraved with the names of the winners of the championship since its creation in 1932/1933. The trophy looks a bit like that of the World Cup, there is no denying that. But it’s still much, much more successful than the previous one.

The new McDonald’s Ligue 1 Trophy, designed by French artist Mathias Kiss in collaboration with Maison Christofle, completes the rebranding of Ligue 1 carried out in 2024. Presented as a symbol of victory, this trophy is distinguished by a hexagonal base engraved with prize lists since 1932/33, columns representing the position of the champions, and a golden sphere at the top. With its dimensions of 54 cm and its weight of less than 10 kg, it will be presented for the first time in May 2025 to the French Champion. The name of the Trophy will be revealed soon.
