Storm Leslie is currently circulating in France and several departments of Occitanie have been placed on orange alert for thunderstorms and floods this Thursday, October 17, 2024. Strong winds are also forecast.
Total interruption of traffic
As a precaution, “in order to guarantee the safety of travelers and staff”, the SNCF decided on a total interruption of traffic for the day.
“We preferred to interrupt traffic to prevent passengers who take their train in the morning from finding themselves without the means to return home in the evening,” explain the SNCF services to Toulouse News.
Several lines affected
Several lines are affected in Occitaniasome of which depart (and arrive) from Toulouse:
- Toulouse-Rodez
- Toulouse-Mazamet
- Rodez-Brive
- Montauban-Cahors-Brive
- Toulouse Capdenac-Figeac-Aurillac.
No substitute transport
The SNCF specifies that no alternative means of transport is in place.
At 8:45 a.m. this Thursday morning, the SNCF was not considering resuming traffic during the day: “The storm has not yet passed, we will adapt according to the evolution of the situation« .
Reconnaissance trains and agents responsible for assessing traffic conditions on each of the lines will circulate before any resumption of traffic.
