Davante Adams-Garrett Wilson tandem may resemble 49ers Hall of Fame duo Rice-Owens

Wilson has been Rodgers’ top target this season. In his last two games, the third-year pro has generated 21 catches for 208 yards and two touchdowns on 33 targets. Wilson is the only player with 20+ catches since Week 5. He is the first Jets player with 100+ receiving yards and 1+ touchdown reception in consecutive games since Brandon Marshall in Weeks 16 and 17 in 2015.

Adams, 31, remains an elite weapon, coming off four straight seasons of over 1,100 yards. The veteran’s ability to win off the line of scrimmage and always be available to the quarterback sets him apart from other wideouts. Although Wilson credited Rodgers with helping teach some of the intricacies of the game, picking the brain of a three-time All-Pro receiver will be even more of a boon for the budding talent.

Make no mistake, Wilson is a star in his own right, but playing alongside another elite weapon will make the Jets’ offense even more potent, even if neither is force-fed skin of pork at the same rate.

With Adams joining Wilson and Allen Lazard at the top of the depth chart, the questions brewing around New York are what becomes of Mike Williams. Hello Peter Schrager reported Tuesday that Williams was close to being traded.

“I think we’ll find out in the next few days, how all these pieces fit together,” Ulbrich said when asked about Williams. “It’s an exciting and interesting problem to take on because we have a lot of different guys with a lot of different skill sets that can do a lot of things, so Todd (Downing) and his team will have sleepless nights with good problems. »
