Better than lemon juice or cider vinegar, this drink regulates blood sugar and calms sugar cravings.

Regulating your blood sugar levels involves diet. To do this, it is important to eat certain snacks rich in protein, consume foods with healthy carbohydrates, or even eat breakfast at a specific time. Drinking lemon juice or even apple cider vinegar can also be a solution. Indeed, lemon juice and apple cider vinegar help regulate blood sugar levels thanks to their respective acids, which slow the absorption of carbohydrates and improve the effectiveness of insulin. However, Moringa, a lesser known but very effective plant, could help balance blood sugar levels, avoid cravings and therefore control weight by reducing the risk of diabetes.

As reported The Women’s Journala study published in the journal Nutrients followed 73 prediabetic people, divided into two groups: one consumed 2.4 g of this powdered plant every day for 12 weeks, the other a placebo. The researchers analyzed blood sugar, appetite hormones and the gut microbiota. After 3 months, participants who consumed the plant saw a 60% improvement in their fasting blood sugar and glycated hemoglobin, two markers of blood sugar levels.

Moringa: the magic plant that regulates blood sugar

Moringa, a plant that grows in Asia, in tropical regions and on the Mediterranean coasts, is rich in vitamins A, C, E, minerals: calcium, potassium and iron, proteins as well as antioxidants. Thanks to all its nutritional properties, it is considered an anti-inflammatory that helps prevent diabetes. It also strengthens the immune system and improves digestion. Its grassy and slightly bitter taste, reminiscent of spinach, does not appeal to everyone, but it is often preferred to spirulina or matcha. There are several ways to consume moringa, either alone, powdered in water, or incorporated into juices, smoothies or soups. Easily found, it is available in organic stores, drugstores and even in certain hypermarkets. Add to your next shopping list!
