The trial for sexual assault of Wissam Ben Yedder opens in

While the trial of Wissam Ben Yedder has started, the football player is cited in other cases for rape, psychological violence, etc.

Wissam Ben Yedder, the former captain of AS Monaco, is on trial for having drunkenly sexually assaulted a woman in her twenties on the night of September 6 to 7, in the underground parking lot of his residence of the Alpes-Maritimes. She accuses the 34-year-old of having slipped a hand between her thighs, of trying to kiss her, then of masturbating in front of her, while they were in his car.

According to her account, he initially stopped her from leaving, but she eventually managed to escape, and filed a complaint in the process. For these facts, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

The ex-French international was arrested in the town of Cap-d’Ail, while he was drunk and driving, and initially resisted. He is therefore also being prosecuted for refusing to comply and driving under the influence of alcohol. He admitted the traffic offenses but denies any sexual assault.

Without a club since the end of his contract at AS Monaco this summer, the striker has been subject to strict judicial control while awaiting this trial. He was prohibited from going to bars or nightclubs, or even from leaving his home between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., and even from leaving the Alpes-Maritimes department. He was also required to receive treatment for his alcohol addiction and he had to clock in twice a week.

Rape accusations

At the time of the events, he was already under judicial supervision. Two women aged 19 and 20 accuse him and his little brother of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault, after an evening in July 2023. He was released after paying bail of 900,000 euros. This file is still under investigation.

Another file is added to the list of accusations targeting Wissam Ben Yedder. He must be tried at the end of December for violence against his wife, with whom he has been separated since May 2023 and is in the process of divorcing. She filed a complaint against him in February 2024 to denounce “psychological and economic violence and threats of physical violence” which resulted in more than 8 days of ITT.

In February 2023, he allegedly paid a woman 1.6 million euros so that she would not file a complaint against him for rape. A case in which he claims to have been manipulated by those around him, according to the Team.

Last year, he was sentenced in Spain to a six-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of more than 130,000 euros for tax evasion.
