The sad news was announced on the artist’s Instagram page: “We are heartbroken to announce the death of Kaseem Ryan, the rapper and producer known as Ka, who passed away unexpectedly in New York on October 12 at the age of 52.“At this time, the causes of Kaseem Ryan’s death are not known.
He acted as a firefighter during September 11, 2001.
Originally from Brooklyn, Ka has served his community alongside his life as an artist. For nearly 20 years, he was a member of the New York City Fire Department, rising to the rank of captain. During the attacks of September 11, 2001, Kaseem Ryan was one of the first to respond on September 11, 2001 to the World Trade Center site. “He leaves an extraordinary legacy as an artist, including eleven remarkable self-published solo albums.“, it is indicated in his tribute. “Ka is survived by his wife, mother and sister. Ka got his start in rap with the New York group Natural Elements. In 2008, he continued his solo career by releasing his first album, entitled Iron Works, to critical acclaim. The same year, he was invited on the album of GZA, member of the legendary group Wu Tang Clan. An independent artist, Ka has released eleven albums on his own label throughout his career. Last August, he released his latest album, The Thief Next To Jesus.
