Perhaps the last step before a possible trial. This Tuesday, a reconstruction must take place a year and a half after the murder of Karine Esquivillon, in Vendée. The victim’s husband and main suspect, Michel Pialle, must be taken from his cell to go to the drama pavilion, in Mâché in Vendée, indicates West France.
After three months of investigation, the 52-year-old man finally confessed to having killed his wife, aged 54, who had been missing since the end of March 2023 and whose body had been found in a wood, on the indications of the husband.
An “accidental” shot?
Indicted for “murder of a spouse” and since imprisoned, the suspect has always assured that it was an accident. A sports shooter with several firearms, Michel Pialle claimed to have “killed his wife with a shot from a 22 long rifle fitted with a silencer”, while he was cleaning the weapon to take a photo of it.
A version that the children that Karine Esquivillon had from a first union do not believe. Especially since Michel Pialle had done everything, initially, to make people believe in a voluntary disappearance. He even testified in front of television cameras.
