Algeria Football – Following his goal against Togo, a defender from the Algerian team dethrones a legend in the scorers rankings.
The defender of the Algerian team, Ramy Bensebaini, took a new step in his international career by bringing his total to seven goals in the “Fennecs” jersey. During the match against Togo, he played a key role in Algeria’s victory, thus contributing to their qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
Since his debut in January 2017, Bensebaini has earned 67 caps for the national team, scoring seven times. This total allows him to equal the number of goals scored by other legends of Algerian football, such as Ali Fergani, Abdelmalek Cherad and Mohamed Amine Amoura. As a defender, he is at the top of the selection’s scorers in his category, just ahead of Antar Yahia, who scored six goals.
At 29, Bensebaini still has many opportunities to add to his list of achievements. His ability to find the net is a valuable asset for the “Fennecs”, who are preparing to take on new challenges. It is important to note that two of his goals scored last January were disallowed as they were scored in a friendly against a local team from Togo, and therefore do not count towards his official tally. With his solid performances, Ramy Bensebaini positions himself as a pillar of the Algerian defense, ready to lead his team to new successes on the continental scene.
