According to the Head of State, the finance bill, the examination of which begins this week in the National Assembly, should allow France to “continue to reindustrialize” and create jobs. “There is work that must be done between the government and Parliament,” said the President of the Republic, in response to a question on the balance to be found between taxation and reduction of deficits.
As a reminder, the budget defended by the Prime Minister aims to reduce the deficit to 5% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2025, after an expected widening to 6.1% this year. The executive is thus responsible for making a global effort worth 60 billion euros, 40 which would come from reducing spending and 20 from revenue.
A worrying loss of sovereignty
The Head of State’s speech comes at a time when French industrial sovereignty is being put to the test. Indeed, many unions and politicians are concerned about the expected arrival of a new American shareholder in an entity of the Sanofi group, marketing Doliprane.
Emmanuel Macron affirmed that the government had the “instruments to guarantee that France is protected”. “We fought so that Doliprane was reproduced in France and that we reproduce molecules and drugs which are essential,” he added.
