Luca did not play and Théo received a red card

Zinedine Zidanelegendary ex-footballer and former coach of Real Madrid, attended the match between Granada and Córdoba on Sunday at the ‘Nuevo Los Cármenes’ stadium, where his sons Luca and Théo play respectively. Luca Zidane is Granada’s goalkeeper, although he started the match on the bench, and Théo Zidane started in midfield for Cordoba, but was sent off with a straight red card in the 39th minute.

Zinédine Zidane has regularly visited Andalusia this season to closely monitor his sons’ progressand he spent several days in Granada. The youngest of the Zidane saga, Elyaz, also plays in Andalusia at Betis de Sevilla, where he alternates between Betis Deportivo and Betis División de Honor, while Enzo Zidane, the eldest of the four brothers, has retired from active football at the age of 29 last summer.

Theo’s premature exit from the field was somewhat contested because the referee sanctioned a head kick that he gave to Miguel Brau without bad intention. The Frenchman tried to control a cross into the home team’s penalty area and, in fact, he managed to do it without realizing that, from behind, the opposing defender was approaching, and throwing himself head first to try to clear the ball.

Luca has not played for a few weeks following a sprain, an injury which pushed the club’s management to recruit Diego Mariño as a free agent. Even if he has since recovered, the experienced Spanish goalkeeper has in principle retained his starting status, which suggests a difficult season for Zinédine’s son, who we will probably not see again soon in Andalusia .
