Three flood control works already exist Anglesqueville-la-Bras-Long, next to -le-Dun. The SMBV, the mixed union of the Durdent, Saint-Valery-en-Caux and Veulettes watershed would like to create one fourth.

But no amicable land agreement was found. So, a public inquiry procedure with a view to expropriation was opened from October 14 to November 19, 2024. This is to demonstrate the public interest in this project.

Slow down runoff

“The idea is to store two hours of ten-year rain and drain the water in 24 hours,” explains Damien Perelledirector of the SMBV of Durdent. That is to say, on average, once every ten years, we will observe a rain whose intensity will be greater than the previous ten-year rain. A new retention basin is therefore necessary to slow down runoff.

This work would be located at the level of rue de la Tour-des-Mottes and the Church Street. “Properties are often flooded,” continues Damien Perelle. And cars drown their engines. In the event of flooding, you must not drive at the risk of breaking your car.”

Didier Ibledhead of the general information service of the district of Diepperetired, was appointed investigating commissioner. His deputy is Laurent Hondoretired and former transport and operations engineer at the SNCF. They are in charge of receiving the public.
