Great success for the pediatric and young adult cancer awareness day organized by Le Sourire de Clara, good attendance and numerous donations.

The month of September aims to mobilize public opinion to make the voices of affected patients heard but also to raise awareness of pediatric cancers and their specificities. As part of this Golden September, the Le smile de Clara association organized, on September 8, a day dedicated to the fight against pediatric and young adult cancer, in Lavardac. A very promising first edition in view of the number of people who participated in the various activities offered by Lavardacaise associations.

Record crowds

“We thought we were expecting 200 people at the meal, but ultimately more than 270 meals were served. From the morning, the supervised hike attracted more than 180 walkers,” explains Mathilde Roman de Mattéi, president of the association. The president and all the volunteers would like to thank all the volunteers and sponsors who participated in the success of this day. “Thank you to the Lavardacaise associations for responding, thanks to them more than 2000 euros in profits were made. Thanks to Bricomarché, Intermarché, Super U, Bioviver, Bureau Vallée for their financial assistance. Thank you to the Cruanas and Delsol-Sarraméjean establishments, thank you to the dancers who animated our day and to our DJ Jean-Jacques Laverny. Thanks to Laurent Pointal for his magic tricks, to Bric à Brac Solidaire and to the merchants who put the donation boxes on their counters and thanks to Thierry Cazenave.” A special thank you to the inhabitants of Albret or elsewhere who mobilized.

5,500 euros raised

This first golden September edition raised 5,500 euros. “We are going to donate 3,000 euros to Lyse for her prosthesis, 1,000 euros to the pediatric services, for children hospitalized at the hospital center, 1,000 euros to the pediatric oncology service at the Pellegrin hospital and 500 euros for research at the Imagin for Margo association. A great first that calls for others. “Thank you again, our association could not be created outside Lavardac, due to this outpouring of generosity and your participation.”
