Star Academy 2024: Maureen from Montpellier, Noah from Aude… Who are the two candidates from Occitanie?

Occitanie is full of talent. Rare are reality TV or entertainment shows without one or more candidates from our region. And the new season of “Star Academy” is no exception to the rule. Two students from Occitanie joined the cast of the show which began Saturday evening on TF1.

First there is Maureen, born in Montpellier, 23 years ago. College in Montpellier, high school in Castelnau-le-Lez, the young woman then left Hérault to do her higher education in Lyon in order to become a press officer in fashion and luxury. She now lives in Bagneux in the Paris region where she has just finished a work-study program in fashion. Music, “I’ve always had that in me,” she confides to Free Midday even though she doesn’t know how to play any instruments. It was her boyfriend who pushed her to sign up for the “Star Academy” casting because she didn’t dare to do so due to her hypersensitivity. His only experience is a few songs in restaurants and huts in La Grande-Motte in the summer. Click here to see his portrait again.

For her first song in the show, Maureen performed “Tous les cris les SOS” by Daniel Balavoine. Watching her performance again during the debrief, broadcast on Sunday on the daily show, she could not contain her emotion. The Montpellier woman said she was proud of herself. “I was so stressed beforehand!” but “I took advantage of the moment.”

Occitanie is also represented by Noah, 20 years old, from Aigues-Vives in Aude. Shy, the young man sings in his room but has never sung in public. Even his rugby friends – which he has been playing since the age of 9 – don’t know his taste for music! Noah is studying to be a caregiver in Carcassonne. He dared to sing in front of disabled patients. “When I sang, they were happy. It made me want to continue,” he explains to Free Midday. After following the last season of “Star Academy”, he signed up. “I told myself I had nothing to lose.” Noah is the eldest of four children who live with their mother.

For his first scene, Noah sang a duet with another academician Thomas, Kendji Girac’s song “Les yeux de la mama”. A piece that the two candidates dedicated to their mothers who were present on the set. Click here to review their portraits.

In total, this “Star Academy” class includes 15 students, 7 boys and 8 girls, who all dream of succeeding Pierre Garnier, the winner of the 2023 edition, who is starting his career off to a flying start.
