Head to the Cambacérès Prize for Kivala du Berlais

The trajectories of Nietzsche Has et Kivala du Berlais have just crossed paths. Marcel Rolland’s colt, impressive during the first half and undefeated, suffered a second setback this fall when David Cottin’s continued to gain momentum. Metamorphosis of Gabin Meunier’s partner who had shown great ability during his first attempts but whose lack of experience prevented him from playing in the big leagues. “He matured a lot during the summer, confirms the jockey. He is now a real racehorse, very different from the colt he was in the spring when he was not at work at all.” It is as a pattern that he wins in this Prix Georges de Talhouët-Roy (Gr. II) contested in very demanding terrain. Quickly at the forefront accompanied by Nietzsche Has, Kivala du Berlais delivered an uncompromising race, which caused the loss of almost half of its workforce (including Djin’s et Lovemec de Houelle) to the peloton. “We would have been happy if there were leaders, confessed David Cottin on the air ofEquidia, but you must not run against nature because it is a train horse. He led the race. His jockey had him at the end of the reins and that’s what’s needed here where it’s the least tired horse that wins.” The least tired and the fastest in the straight was the son of Holy of Holies – father of the two group winners this Sunday – while Nietzsche Has fell into line and saw Sane pass in front of him, Kivala du Berlais was heading towards the post. First victory at the best time, less than four weeks before the Prix Cambacérès for this imposing colt. “He runs better than last, continues David Cottin. He will continue to progress over the races. We hope he will be 200% for Group I.”

The curves can still be reversed

This is also the wish of his main adversaries who are meeting next month at Kivala du Berlais during the big objective of this end of season for the 3-year-old hurdlers. Sane shows great progress, it is very satisfactory, enthuses François Nicolle after his resident’s second place. I was a little disappointed to be beaten last time, but that’s racing. He learns well. Today was a real race, without concessions, a very good preparation. If it is as good, we will achieve the best for the beauty.” No resignation either on the side of Marcel Rolland. The two failures suffered by Nietzsche Has were obviously not expected, but find a rational explanation: “He’s a horse that requires a lot of work. He runs much better than the other day. However, this was not enough. The summer break was a bit long for him. I am convinced that he will mount this attempt and that he will reach the point in a month. He’s going to get on that, that’s for sure.” The sacred professional with Jigme last year has not said its last word, but the competition promises to be fierce.

Figure: 57%

This is the percentage of winners of the Prix Georges de Talhouët-Roy who have subsequently won the Prix Cambacérès since the year 2000 (3 winners of group II did not participate in group I subsequently).
