An agricultural shed destroyed by a suspicious fire in Finistère: an investigation opened

A fire broke out at 1 a.m. this Saturday, October 12, 2024, on a farm in the town of Coray (Finistère), located in the place called Vreac’h Coat. A shed filled with fodder and approximately 2,500 m² large was destroyed by the flames. There were no injuries and no animals were affected.

Around thirty firefighters have been mobilized since last night, notably from the emergency centers of Scaër, Leuhan, Concarneau, Saint-Goazec, Trégourez and . A command post was installed to counter any risk linked to fertilizer conflagration. This is a “long-term operation”, according to the group leader, who specifies that the intervention could last until the early evening.

A 20,000 volt power line hit

The emergency services must in fact evacuate all the straw in a field, in order to ensure that no resumption of fire is possible. An operational support vehicle is on site to resupply the teams, who take turns.

In this fire, a 20,000 volt power line melted, leaving up to seventy homes without power. The situation is being restored, thanks to the intervention of Enedis teams. The police also intervened. An investigation was opened in conjunction with the Quimper public prosecutor’s office for this suspicious fire. According to our information, this could be a malicious act.
