GUEST RTL – Climate: “Eating strawberries in winter is criminal”, denounces adventurer Nicolas Vanier

“The one who holds the power is the consumer.” Guest of RTL this Saturday October 12 while his new film, It’s the world upside downreleased in theaters on October 16, Nicolas Vanier assured that in terms of the environment, the blue card had “considerable power”.

“Each of the people who listen to us have the power to, every day, penalize products that consume energy, that destroy the planet,” insisted the director. According to him, “eating strawberries in winter that come from the other side of the planet is criminal”.

The filmmaker, who was keen to make a film with the lowest possible carbon footprint, also pleaded for talking about “solutions” to preserve the climate rather than sending “negative messages”. “I can no longer stand certain ecologists who monopolize speaking time on radios and televisions, but which only tell us about these negative messages, which promise us a black world, he denounces. What I would like is for us to talk about solutions. The solutions exist. It’s not a question of ability, it’s only a question of will. And each time we implement these solutions, we create a better life.”

Furthermore, “there is not a sane person on this planet who will be able to say that we can continue to live in a world where we consume in eight months what the Earth produces in twelve”, finally said Nicolas Vanier. Even if, according to him, “in a very anxiety-provoking world, it’s important to talk about solutions”.
