The 68-year-old man found lifeless on the banks of the Saint-François River last week died of natural causes, according to the Sherbrooke Police Department.
“The Investigations Division is able to confirm that the death is not linked to a criminal act nor to a voluntary act. It is the natural death path which is favored for the moment,” indicates the spokesperson for the organization, Benoit Pellerin.
If the hypothesis of a violent death or suicide is ruled out, the exact cause of his death remains unknown.
The body of the sixty-year-old was discovered behind the Maxi located on rue des Grandes-Fourches Sud by a person who was passing by.
The police are still waiting for certain analysis results to determine whether the man was intoxicated, specifies Benoit Pellerin.
The file is now transferred to the coroner’s office, which will be able to identify the reasons for the death.
