In this Lannion car park, trucks will be able to fill up with gas in June 2025

In the Pégase activity zone, in Lannion, the Espace de Broglie parking lot will become a compressed natural gas (CNG) distribution station. It is the mixed economy company Énergies 22 which is carrying out this project. “The work will begin soon. The building permit has been granted. At the last council of Lannion-Trégor community, the land which belonged to the agglomeration was sold to Sem”, specifies Pierre Gouzi, administrator of the latter and vice-president of the Departmental Energy Union of Côtes-d’Armor ( SDE22).

Three stations already operational in the department

The land in question, with a surface area of 3,500 m², was sold for €126,000 at the Sem. This is not its first natural gas distribution station. It has already had three built, which are operational: Dinan-Quévert, Trégueux (Les Châtelets) and Châtelaudren-Plouagat. It also took over the operation of a fourth station in Caudan (56), in the 1st

mars 2024.

Are these stations for all vehicles? “CNG is mainly for trucks. Cars will also be able to go there but there are not many of them,” replies Pierre Gouzi. What is the advantage of gas? “Instead of diesel, gas is less polluting. It emits almost no fine particles. CO2 emissions are also much lower.”

Gas, wind and sun

The stations already open are doing quite well: “We have significant consumption. Communities are getting started little by little. I’m thinking of buses, waste collection trucks…”, continues the vice-president of SDE22. This union is the majority shareholder (60%) of Sem Énergies 22, which was created in December 2018. It is one more step in a virtuous spiral to offer clean energies.

Sem Énergies 22 “has the mission of stimulating and supporting the production of renewable energies in Côtes-d’Armor, through four major fields of intervention: natural gas vehicles, renewable gas, wind power and photovoltaics. The SDE22 is responsible for electric cars: “We have installed 200 terminals in the Côtes-d’Armor region,” explains Pierre Gouzi.

An opening expected in June 2025

In Lannion, Sem Énergies 22 will invest €1.5 million for four distribution routes. This station will also be equipped with photovoltaic panel shades and two charging stations for electric cars: 180 kW (super-charger) and 24 kW. For each terminal, there are two sockets. “The work will begin by winter,” concludes Pierre Gouzi, who hopes this facility will open by June 2025.
