“It’s time to prioritize mental health at work.” This is the theme of the 32nd edition of the celebration of World Mental Health Day held in Kaolack. The Minister of Health and Social Action, Ibrahima Sy, who chaired this event, returned to the importance of this day which aims to raise awareness among populations of the extent of the consequences.
Regarding the theme of this 32nd edition, Ibrahima Sy emphasizes that “the creation of a healthy and safe working environment makes it possible to preserve health”. Not without deploring “stigma, discrimination, exposure to risks such as harassment and other poor working conditions which can significantly compromise mental health, overall quality of life and therefore participation and productivity at work “. Thus, the Ministry of Health and Social Action plans, in addition to raising awareness, to work with health establishments to strengthen the capacities of health professionals and community stakeholders to enable them to easily recognize symptoms and respond. detect warning signs of mental disorders during their duties. An objective, according to Ibrahima Sy, which “requires the involvement of all segments of society for the improvement of mental health in the professional environment for a healthier future”. However, he also made a plea to Senegalese employers for the promotion and popularization of the determinants of the mental health of employees and users in the workplace.
