“People are forced to make big detours!” : since the collapse of the RD 148, in Aubin, local residents exasperated by a closure that drags on

Some residents are exasperated: they have no information from the Department concerning the dates of work on the RD 148 linking Rulhe-d’Auzits to the RD 5 in Aubin. The road collapsed in early May 2024 after bad weather.

“We understand that this is surely a very secondary road and that there are priorities. But we would like to have an answer on the prospects for work and reopening because, at the moment, we are making major detours In a Facebook post, the departmental council indicated a reopening for June 7.

The months that pass without an ounce of work

Like Vincent Huc, living in Rulhe-d’Auzits, and Jean-Luc Campargue, who lives at a place called Ruau-Bas in Aubin, residents of the area are exasperated by the months that pass without seeing the beginning of an ounce of work, after the collapse of the RD 148, at a place called Ruau-Bas in Aubin, also called “The river route”.

Consequence of bad weather

“The road was simply closed; diversion signs put in place. This happened on May 2, when there was bad weather, heavy rain non-stop. A tree fell, the stream swelled and ravished the embankment I left for work around 6:45 a.m., there were cracks on the road, I called the police station immediately,” says Vincent Huc.

Jean-Luc Campargue adds: “I passed by, I saw that there was a triangle, I thought it was an accident or a broken down car. When I passed, a step had formed on the bitumen, I went to the house, I came back a few minutes later because I know that a lot of people pass on this road, everything had gone down to the stream, I also called the police, who closed the road. Department services came.

“Big detours”

“People are forced to make big detours to go to Decazeville from Rulhe, you have to go through Cransac, through La Rayasse the road is winding, the same to go to Montbazens. With more traffic and more danger. The emergency services easily ten minutes more to come to Rulhe”, continues Vincent Huc.

What about relief?

Jean-Luc Campargue agrees: “A few days later, I had a heart attack. The firefighters came across the blocked road and had to make a detour. Fortunately, they took care of me in time. Even more so. that in Aubin, there are two Ruau-Bas: one near the RD 840 and the other here on the RD 148. This creates confusion. This will also pose a problem for harvesting and silage: farmers will be. forced to cross paths whereas before they could make a circuit.”

Elected officials arrested

“I spoke about this problem of a collapsed road with the mayor of Rulhe and with the deputy Laurent Alexandre,” adds Vincent Huc.

“I passed this information on to elected officials, but I did not intervene directly on this matter,” specifies, for his part, the deputy. Christine Teulier, mayor of Aubin, emphasizes for her part: “This road is the responsibility of the Department. I don’t know more; we knew it would take a long time. I will find out more.”

“Technical and geotechnical studies have been carried out”

When requested, the Department is not yet able to give a date for the work: “The RD 148 is a road in the secondary network with little traffic and therefore classified E. A significant slide occurred last spring. The studies techniques have been carried out for the rectification of the axis in order to sustain the road Geotechnical studies have been carried out Now we are in an environmental study phase to obtain authorization for the work. scheduled and a diversion was put in place.
