Even though the wind weakened during the night, the gusts weakened the trees at the foot of the Pyrenees. One of them fell this Thursday morning, paralyzing rail traffic.
Storm Kirk had limited consequences yesterday in the Hautes-Pyrénées, although it was placed on orange alert by Météo France for violent winds. Gusts which did not spare the Pyrenean foothills, notably causing the closure of the A64 this Wednesday evening, due to the fall of a tree which had to be evacuated between Tournay and Tarbes.

This Thursday morning, while rail traffic which had been suspended as a precaution along the entire Atlantic coast this Wednesday afternoon, was able to resume, it was quickly interrupted, due to the fall of a tree on the track between Pau and Lourdes. SNCF teams carried out its evacuation during the morning. A relatively complex operation which required a longer intervention than initially planned. At 11:30 a.m., the tree was finally removed from the track. The train responsible for reconnaissance of the track was able to complete its journey without hindrance.
As a result, rail traffic was able to resume at midday, between Tarbes and Pau.
