Saturday October 12, 2024, the Rouen Métropole Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and local merchants are organizing the National Local Commerce Day (JNCP). This event, which takes place throughout France, aims to promote the economic and social importance of local commerce. Merchants thank their customers for their loyalty while offering entertainment in city centers. In Rouen and its surroundings, more than 40 municipalities will participate in this day with activities such as tastings, games, shows and competitions.
The JNCP, created 16 years ago, is a major national meeting. In 2023, 39 commercial and artisanal unions (UCA) and more than 1,000 traders from the Rouen metropolis took part in the event, reflecting the importance of this type of commerce in local life.
Example of events for the 2024 edition, the town of Canteleu is organizing activities on the market and in shops, while Grand-Quevilly will offer music throughout the town, with a tour of traders in the presence of elected officials. Other municipalities like Franqueville-Saint-Pierre will focus on original themes like “Cinema”, with film posters and movie cars displayed in the streets.
One of the highlights of this day is the presentation of the National Commerce and Crafts Label in the city, awarded to municipalities that have demonstrated an active policy in terms of local commerce. Cities in the Rouen region, such as Canteleu and Grand-Quevilly, have already been rewarded, and others hope to win the famous Smiles, indicators of pride and attractiveness.
The CCI Rouen Métropole plays a key role in the organization of this event, by coordinating the actions of traders and commercial unions. For more than 10 years, she has been actively involved in the JNCP, and her commitment has been recognized several times by national awards.
