Rain-flood: Seine-et- placed on red alert for floods

As the rain continues to fall, the authorities are preparing to face significant flooding in Seine-et-. The department was placed on red flood alert this Wednesday at 4 p.m. by Météo , due to the risk of flooding around Grand Morin. “The expected amounts of rain could cause a strong to exceptional flood”warns the government site Vigicrues, “with very rapid water rises and overflows from this Wednesday evening.”

At 4 p.m., Météo France recorded between 15 and 30 millimeters of rain having fallen since the start of the day in Seine-et-Marne. And up to 80 mm cumulative could fall by Wednesday evening, the equivalent ofa month of rain in one day. These accumulations of rain could cause numerous floods in the communities around Grand Morin. And the water will continue to rise on Thursday. “The maximum in the Pommeuse sector should be observed in the morning or during the day on Thursday”specifies Vigicrues.
