“Savages” is an ecological fable set in the rainforest of the island of Borneo, in Southeast Asia. This Franco-Belgian-Swiss co-production from the Geneva studio Nadasdy Film had its world premiere at the Film Festival.

The film received the Kid Award at Locarno. Claude Barras’ previous film, “Ma vie de Courgette” (2016), was also rewarded several times, including two Césars. It was also nominated in 2017 for the Oscar for best animated film.

Ceremony in Lucerne

In the race for the European Film Awards, “Sauvages” is now in competition with “Flow” by Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis, “Living Large” by Czech filmmaker Kristina Dufková, “Sultana’s Dream” by Spaniard Isabel Herguera and “They Shot The Piano Player” by Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal, both also Spanish.

The European Film Awards will be awarded for the first time this year in Switzerland, on December 7 in Lucerne. The European Film Academy has until November 5 to announce all the nominations in the different categories.

The European Film Awards have been awarded since 1988 by the European Film Academy, headquartered in Berlin. The event takes place there every two years. It takes place in other European cities in other years.
