Unchanged India asked to bat; Bangladesh bring in Tanzim Hasan Sakib | Bangladesh tour of India, 2024

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hasan Shanto called it right at the toss at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and opted to bowl first. Shanto and Bangladesh batted first in the first T20I in Gwalior but were obliterated by a fired-up India, who bowled the visitors out for 127 before chasing the target in just 11.5 overs.

Shanto confirmed that Bangladesh were making one change, bringing in seamer Tanzim Hasan Sakib for Shoriful Islam.

India skipper Suryakumar Yadav meanwhile said that India would have batted first anyway even if they had won the toss. “It will be a good challenge for our bowlers in the dew, bowling with a wet ball,” he said.

Suryakumar confirmed that India were going in with an unchanged line-up for the second T20I.

Incidentally, in the two sides’ last H2H clash in Delhi in 2019, it was Bangladesh who came out on top, chasing 149 with three balls to spare.

Bangladesh will have to win this encounter to enforce a decider in Hyderabad on October 12 (Saturday).
