An idea to be put forward by Jean-René Wenk, farmer and arborist, who brought in his wake twelve producers who frequent the place.
Are you a fan of short circuits? Do you want to promote the know-how of local producers? Don’t hesitate to open the door of this grocery store located on the Nérac – Condom axis. The range of local, organic and seasonal products is wide with EARL Wenk fruit juices, organic oils, fruits,; honey from the Colombano family; Prukibio pasta and flour; armagnac from Château de Courrejot; buffalo cheeses from El Buffala: yoghurts from the white waters; beef from the Fiton family to order… Jean-René Wenk is all the more motivated by the presence of his son, Louis, who wishes to follow in his father’s footsteps.
How did the idea for this store come about?
I discussed it with the producers around me. The idea of promoting products in a single place appealed to them. The agreement was immediate and everyone bought into the concept without a shadow of hesitation. Some are already regulars at summer country farmers’ markets and can therefore continue selling directly.
A neighborhood exchange?
Indeed some producers have their own store. We all thought it was possible to raise awareness of each other’s products. A solution to develop visits to farms. Personally, I already welcome groups who come by bus as well as students from the Moulin Neuf relay. Young people are very interested in the different stages of fruit processing.
A plus for tourism?
My farm is located near the greenway. Normally the opening to pedestrians and cyclists should take place at the end of the year. Everyone will be able to stop off to discover the store. Also an opportunity to taste products and quench your thirst. In addition, the farm has a lake around which I install tables and chairs.
Locker customers there?
In 2013 I was a pioneer in Lot-et-Garonne with the establishment of the first distributor of vegetables, fruits and fruit juices on the Heugarède estate. A concept still unique at the time in the department praised by the Chamber of Agriculture. Today I have gained the loyalty of customers who come and serve themselves as they wish. The operation is very simple and the credit card accepted.
A first assessment?
The start is positive. Customers present. Personally, a great human adventure which I hope will continue.
