After El Mordjene, what is “Crema Bueno”, the new spread that is a hit?

After the enormous success of El Mordjene, finally banned from marketing in Europe, a new spread created by two Norman artisans, Crema Bueno, is delighting the hearts of the French.

A new competitor for Nutella. Initially intended for professionals, the new Crema Bueno spread has enjoyed great success. Made in Gournay-en-Bray () by Alexandre Cousin and Léa Chauveau, two young 27-year-old artisans who own two bakeries, a chocolate factory and a production workshop, Crema Bueno hazelnut spread never stops to be talked about for several weeks.

According to its two creators, the recipe is simple: hazelnuts roasted at more than 30%, sugar, milk powder, rapeseed oil, French sunflower lecithin and RSOP palm oil. . A point that could raise eyebrows, given the environmental issues raised by the use and importation of this oil.

But this one is “special”, according to Alexandre Cousin: “To have this smoothness, this creaminess of a spread, we have to have a solid fat. It’s going to be either cocoa butter or palm oil. Ours respects the environment, in correlation with our values. It does not cause deforestation,” he explained for Télévisions.

Surf the buzz of El Mordjene

Created about a year ago, Crema Bueno has already enjoyed great success with pastry chefs, restaurateurs and crepe makers, who were originally the only customers of the Norman company which employs around forty employees. But in a few weeks, after the summer buzz around the El Mordjene spread, as well as the ban on its marketing pronounced on September 17, Crema Bueno has changed dimension.

“We started to be contacted by hyperstore managers. They wanted to know if we could offer jars for individuals since our product had, according to them, characteristics and a taste similar to that from Algeria,” says Alexandre Cousin to France Télévisions. In the aisles of hypermarkets, opinions on this subject vary. “Some say it looks a lot like it. Others say it’s different. And there are El Mordjene fans. They assure us that it has nothing to do with it,” he explains.

Victim of his success

Contacted by France Télévisions, Frédéric Pacini, director of a Hyper U store, was also amazed. “Initially, we wanted to give him a helping hand and highlight a Norman product. And there, we realize that it is he who boosts us. We have already planned to give it a place on our shelves because we don’t want to do a one-shot, but to be a long-term product. Especially if our customers ask for more,” explains the boss. Sold for 2.95 euros each, the 200 g pots go like hotcakes. “Since yesterday, we have sold more than 600.”

Since then, many brands have placed orders (150,000 pots have already been requested), so much so that Alexandre Cousin and Léa Chauveau are out of stock. For the moment, on their site, ordering Crema Bueno is impossible: “victim of its success” we can read. And for good reason, the couple, who only delivered to Normandy, must now ensure orders for , and soon for the region. Irrefutable proof of success.
