excellent news for the price of the electric 3008 with 700 km of autonomy

Besides the price, which is one of the main battlehorses of electric cars, autonomy is also particularly important. And for good reason, many motorists are still afraid of switching to electric because they fear finding themselves broken down on the side of the road.

Great autonomy finally a reality

This is why brands are actively working to increase battery capacity of their electric cars, in order to increase the distance that can be traveled on a single charge. Enough to reassure drivers, even if we know that great autonomy is generally not necessary. But we have to please customers, while the sale of thermal cars will be banned in Europe from 2035. So, all manufacturers must now go all out on this engine.

We think, for example, of Peugeot, which has just lifted the veil on its new e-408 and which now has a complete range. This includes in particular the new e-3008 and e-5008, which we were able to try a little earlier. From their launch, the two SUVs promised to be available in new versions, capable of reaching respectively the 700 and 668 kilometers autonomy according to the WLTP cycle. But these Long Range variants were not at all planned for immediately.

But a few months later, the lion firm announces in a press release just published that its two Long Range versions, including “Great Autonomy”, are finally arriving in dealerships. Thus, it is now possible to order a copy of the e-3008 and e-5008, while the latter will be visible on the French brand’s stand during the Paris Motor Show. For the record, the latter will open its doors next week to the general public.

The opportunity to discover the prices of these variants. The new e-3008 Long Range 230 horsepower starts from 46,990 euros in its Allure finish. The latter is the only one to be eligible for the ecological bonus of 4,000 euros, which could however be revised downwards from next year. For its part, the Long Range GT version is displayed from 51,490 euros and therefore cannot qualify for government aid reserved for cars under 47,000 euros – unless you negotiate skillfully.

A large battery made in France

Regarding the e-5008, it displays a starting price of 51,490 euros also in the Allure version, still with the 230 horsepower engine which is the only one available with this large battery. In its finish covering the GT range, the electric SUV starts from 55,990 euros. Note that both cars benefit from the eight-year Allure Care warranty, now available across the entire Peugeot range in recent months. Both models are also based on the same STLA Medium platform.

They carry a large battery displaying a capacity of 96.9 kWhwhose cells are produced in France by ACC, within the Douvrin factory, which is currently struggling to ramp up. As a reminder, the e-3008 and e-5008 recharge from 20 to 80% in 27 minutes at a power of 160 kW, and can recover 150 kilometers in 10 minutes. Both SUVs are also equipped with battery preconditioning.

A particularly useful element to benefit from rapid charging, even in winter when temperatures are very low.

With this price compatible with the bonus, the e-3008 “High Autonomy” manages to position itself favorably against the Renault Scénic E-Tech, which offers 623 km WLTP for the same price. As for the Tesla Model Y Grande Autonomie Propulsion, it offers 600 km WLTP for, once again, the same price.

Finally, the French manufacturer specifies that another variant displaying a power of 320 horsepower and equipped with all-wheel drive is also in preparation. But for now, no launch date has yet been officially announced. For the record, Peugeot currently offers 12 electric models in its range, from the e-208 to the e-5008, including the e-308 which we were also able to test.
