This video portal allows residents of New York and Dublin to see and interact in real time

This frankly resembles the type of art-tech creation that one would see in a sci-fi film with a “chill” and “arty” style (like Her or Ex-Machina for example). A new sculpture has been installed on the Flatiron South Public Plaza in New York, but it is of a radically new kind since it is also a communication portal designed to “erase” geographical distances. The “portal” still weighs 3.5 tonnes and has a circular shape at the center of which is placed a giant screen. From New York, this giant screen allows you to see and converse directly with residents of Dublin (the camera overlooks a street in the European city) and vice versa. The only notable difference with certain sci-fi films where we can see this type of portal is that it is not possible to cross it to go from Dublin to New York in a few seconds (after all, it is above all a screen).
