The Moroccan artistic scene in mourning: Naïma Lamcharki is no longer

The Moroccan artistic scene has lost one of its emblematic figures. Actress Naïma Lamcharki, who died at the age of 81 following a long illness.

Her disappearance was announced by Moroccan director Ahmed Bouaroua on social networks, where he paid tribute to the one he considered a “sincere sister and friend”.

Born in 1943 in Casablanca, Naïma Lamcharki has carved out a special place for herself on the Moroccan cultural scene, establishing herself as an undisputed icon of theater, cinema and television. Over the decades, she has captivated audiences with her immense talent and passion for art, participating in productions that have marked the history of Moroccan arts.

Lamcharki has been honored numerous times throughout her career. In 2001, she received the Best Actress Award at the National Film Festival for her memorable role in the film “Looking for my wife’s husband”, directed by Mohamed Abderrahmane Tazi. Twenty years later, at the Malmö Arab Film Festival in Sweden, she was again rewarded for her performance in “Apple tree autumn”, by Mohamed Mouftakir. These distinctions bear witness to his exceptional talent and his ability to touch the hearts of spectators, whatever the era.

Beyond her artistic career, Naïma Lamcharki was also recognized for her humanitarian commitment. As a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, she worked tirelessly to defend the rights of children in Morocco. Her generosity and dedication to charitable causes made her a respected and admired figure, both for her art and for her heart.

The loss of Naïma Lamcharki leaves an immense void in the Moroccan cultural landscape. His artistic heritage, rich and varied, will continue to inspire future generations.
