André Ayew, aged 34, signed with Le Havre on Friday, after being courted by several Ligue 1 clubs this summer. RC Lens and LOSC had expressed their interest in the Ghanaian striker during the transfer period.
Ayew, who scored six goals in twenty games last season, finally reached an agreement with Mathieu Bodmer to return to Le Havre. This return was far from certain, the negotiations having had a difficult start.
Several clubs, including Stade Brestois and Feyenoord Rotterdam, had also approached Ayew’s entourage. However, the player’s preference for a return to Normandy weighed in the balance of discussions.
Initially, Ayew seemed inclined to join Lille. However, the absence of Mohamed Bayo’s departure did not make it possible to free up a place for him in the offensive squad of the Mastiffs, making this option obsolete.
The close connection between Ayew’s clan and Le Havre ultimately facilitated his return to the port city. This transfer marks a new stage in the career of the striker, well known to Le Havre supporters.
Thus, Le Havre is proud to have recruited an experienced player, known for his efficiency in front of goal.
