It all started in 2016, shortly after the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States, when comedian Rosie O’Donnell publicly relayed a rumor claiming that Barron Trump, the son of Melania and Donald Trump was autistic. At the time, the young boy, who has grown a lot since then, was only 10 years old. In his memoirs which will appear on October 8, soberly titled Melaniathe former First Lady returns to these allegations, as reported by Daily Mail this Saturday, October 5. Directly attacking the American comedian guilty of amplifying the rumor, the outraged mother wrote: “There’s nothing shameful about being autistic (as Rosie O’Donnell’s tweet implies), but the fact is that Barron is not autistic.”
If Rosie O’Donnell subsequently explained that she had relayed the incriminating tweet not to cause harm to Barron Trump, but to raise public awareness of the treatment of autism, this did not in any way calm the anger of Melania Trump. It must be said that the comedian had shared a montage of video extracts in which the young boy appeared, accompanied by subtitles claiming to detail his autistic disorders. According to his mother, these images had led to almost permanent harassment, both online and on a daily basis, against the young man.. “No apology can compensate for the suffering inflicted on him”writes the mother wolf, who considers that the “attacks” of which Barron was a victim had the sole aim of harming her husband.
