IT HURTS HIM

The Habs took advantage of the beautiful landscapes of Mont-Tremblant before taking the road to Ottawa, which was holding a closed team retreat from Wednesday to Saturday morning. The stay north of Montreal allowed us to digest the many emotions caused by the preseason. After two calm and contained games at the start of the preparatory schedule, the temperature rose a notch during the Canadiens’ most recent clashes against the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Senators. For Martin St-Louis and his staff, the priority will be to remain in good physical condition until the end of Saturday’s duel.

Montreal’s 5-on-5 game has proven to be very effective in its first five outings of the new campaign, conceding just two goals at even strength. However, special teams continue to be a problem. The Habs allowed four shorthanded goals in their last duel, and they still haven’t found the back of the net with a man advantage. The St. Louis squad will try to change the situation this evening, with a view to Wednesday’s opening match.

Today’s face-off will be the second in a row against the Senators, who return to the Canadian Tire Center after completing a comeback on Friday against the Detroit Red Wings, ultimately winning by a score of 4 to 3. Ottawa has compiled a 4-1-1 record so far in the preseason, including a 4-3 victory in Montreal on Tuesday.
