“The NFP is a marriage of convenience without the level of honesty that people on the left should embrace”

Yanis Varoufakis never minced his words. The former Greek Minister of Finance, who arrived on a motorbike in front of the European institutions, denounced a “triangle of sin” speaking of the media, banks and service providers of the Greek state, this time attacks the left and the French far left. «No New Popular Front “is a marriage of convenience without the level of honesty that leftists and progressives should embrace.”he tackles in an interview with Release .

According to the former Greek Finance Minister, the program of the alliance of the far left with the left was not a good idea. “What I don’t like is the fact that the NFP did not tell the French, neither before the election nor after, that their program involved a conflict with the EU”he specifies.

“I have no doubt that Mélenchon will go to clash with the EU, but not the socialists, it is not in their DNA, any more than the Greens. So what are they doing signing up to a common program, which requires a conflict they are not prepared to have?”he asks himself. If the New Popular Front did not go “to the clash” with the European institutions, then it “would find myself in the same situation as mine in Greece in 2015, having to face the European Central Bank, the European Commission, and even the IMF”he emphasizes.

“The end of Macron”

Yanis Varoufakis assure “to be in progress” to speak to the leaders of the alliance. “France is not sustainable in this European Union. Let me give you an example as an economist. Prime Minister Michel Barnier, in his eyes, “does not exist. It’s an algorithm. We saw it during the Brexit negotiations, he didn’t have a single original idea. The former minister has his own method to ensure a victory for the New Popular Front. “The only way for the left to win the overwhelming public support needed to change things is to be honest with them.”. “The fascists are. They say: ‘Give us power and we will deport refugees and black people, we will be horrible to gays, lesbians and trans people'”he assures. “They carry their misanthropy on their shoulders, we need to carry our humanism and our clear thoughts on what we want to do”recommends the former minister.
