An enriching day – (87000)

The Les Cinq nursing home in Landouge organized the first edition of the information day on Alzheimer’s disease. Instructive.

This first edition was a great success, if only because around forty people came.

The three speakers, Doctor Delphine Thomas, geriatrician at the Saint-Junien hospital center, Marie Guillet-Charron, psychologist from the Evaasion platform of the Mutualité française and Sandrine Gaillard, director and trainer in humanitude, captivated the audience and responded with precision to questions about this disease.

“The memory of emotions lasts until the end”

Delphine Thomas gave a reminder about taking Alzheimer’s disease into account and in particular the difficulty of putting a name to this pathology. The geriatrician is convinced that the memory of emotions lasts until the end and she understands the difficulty caregivers face in destabilizing situations, ensuring that the link is not broken but that it presents itself differently.

Marie Guillet-Charron explained how Evaasion works, which supports caregivers and allows them to make sense of the symptoms.

Then, Sandrine Gaillard, director and trainer in humanitude, explained this method of care aimed at supporting elderly or dependent people.

Discussions took place during this round table and continued afterwards around the information stands.

Informative stands

The public was thus able to interact with the three speakers but also with the family association of the Ehpad Les Quatre Printemps.

The stands allowed visitors to have a broad overview of what was offered or put in place for patients and their families, such as accommodation or humanity.

To complete this rich information, the public also discussed adaptation to daily life and the activities of the nursing home. The speakers, all professionals, were able to best inform people faced with situations related to Alzheimer’s disease.
