Montceau – Le Capitole: “to see a film, you need a good cinema”

It’s not a victory but almost. For years the project of a new cinema in Montceau-les-Mines has been fueling local interest that even the mayor’s announcements on the construction of the Capitol have left a large number of citizens perplexed.

“It’s a long road from project to thing” recalled Marie-Claude Jarrot, quoting Molière before the laying of the first stone of the cinema complex, the Capitole, work on which has already begun in front of the Embarcadère.

“The film took a long time to get to this point. We can even talk about a series, a saga dotted with very bad episodes with actors or rather an actress (Editor’s note: Madame Davoine) who has, fortunately, left the series,” the mayor pastiched.

From a disaster scenario to ominous supporting roles played on a minefield, the laying of this first stone concomitantly with , “is the end of this saga which has kept us in suspense for 10 years,” she recalled. “It is rather the teasing of a future which promises to be happy for our territories of all possibilities, their inhabitants and, somewhere also, the economy of a mining Basin, of a territory of the CUCM endowed with present, in a few months, structures of its time”.

With Régis Faure, at the head of Panacéa, the town of Montceau took the gamble of being patient by allocating the Embarcadère to the cinema before transforming the attempt with Le Capitole. An art house cinema, for blockbusters, broadcasts of concerts, filmed operas, for debate evenings.

“To all the main actors, I want to thank them for the work accomplished, tedious, complicated work. They believed in this essential project” mentioned the mayor who praised the decisive commitment of President David Marti “and essential for the success of this project”.

“We worked relentlessly to bring these projects to fruition, which required colossal work and fierce will,” underlined the president of the CUCM in turn.

Henri-Georges Clouzot said: “To make a film you first need a good story, secondly a good story, thirdly a good story”.

“To see a film, you need a good cinema” added Marie-Claude Jarrot.
