Candidate for the Devils a year ago, in the reserve team today: “I’m not going to hide that it’s difficult” – Tout le football

Jorne Spileers is in a delicate situation at Club Brugge. He now plays in the U23 team in D1B.

Last year, Jorne Spileers was an indisputable starter under Ronny Deila. The young central defender asserted himself from month to month, charming with the quality of his recovery, until seeing his name blown to join the Red Devils. But Nicky Hayen preferred Joel Ordóñez in the Playoffs.

This summer again, Spileers was cited at Tottenham. But it only remained at the rumor stage. And his situation has not changed: not a single minute with the A team, so he joined Club NXT in D1B.

“I actually suggested myself to start working with Club NXT. I wasn’t in the A team selection, but I thought it was important to be able to continue to earn minutes. I then spoke to the coach and he also thought it was a good idea,” he explains to Nieuwsblad.

Spileers is still only 19

He currently has no idea of the duration of this return to D1B under the orders of Robin Veldman : “I don’t know and it’s not important at the moment. It also depends on how I feel. We watch it from week to week. I’m taking the opportunity to find my rhythm again.”

Jorne Spileers is quite lucid about his situation: “It seems to be the best option I have at the moment, although I don’t want to hide the fact that it’s mentally difficult. Especially after last season. But I accept being pushed aside and having to earn my place again.”
