A chalet destroyed by fire in Saint-Pierre-la-Mer

The fire broke out this Friday afternoon and completely destroyed a chalet in Saint-Pierre-la-Mer. The occupant of the premises was inconvenienced and was taken to the hospital center.

This Friday, October 4 at the beginning of the afternoon, a chalet caught fire on rue du Jasmin in St-Pierre-la-Mer. The house, made entirely of wood, was already completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on site. Major resources were deployed to prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding homes, since no less than 25 firefighters intervened, deploying two tank trucks, an urban pump-ton van and a respiratory aid vehicle. . A medical rescue machine for the first victims and another for personal assistance, as well as a nurse, came to reinforce this system, supervised by the municipal police and the Gruissan gendarmerie.

Despite everything, the wind spread the fire to the outbuilding of a neighboring house. Thanks to the rapid and efficient intervention of the firefighters, no other homes were affected in the neighborhood. The fire was completely contained but the chalet from which the fire started was completely destroyed. Fortunately, no human losses were reported, the tenant of the chalet, aged 74, having escaped on her own when she saw the flames. Intoxicated by the fumes she inhaled, she was quickly treated and taken to the Narbonne hospital center. When she leaves, she will spend the weekend with friends before being rehoused by the Fleury-d’Aude town hall. It has not yet been possible to determine the circumstances in which the fire started.
