After Whatever you wantin 2016 (then on tour throughout France in 2018) by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière, Bérénice Bejo returns to the stage with People from Bilbao are born wherever they want a touching adaptation of Marie Larrea’s novel, directed by Johanna Boyé.

Daughter of Spanish exiles who fled Francoism, the author delves into her family history to give us a story full of mystery and emotion. Under the direction of Côme de Bellescize, this play by Léonore Confino explores with finesse and emotion the complexities of romantic relationships through sixteen stages, from the first meeting to the last breakup.

The characters (all named Camille), whether they are lovers, parents, divorced or widowed, confront their own expectations and disillusionments. Each interaction becomes an opportunity to reveal the paradoxes of contemporary love, oscillating between hope and misunderstanding.

The loving Servant

In the setting of the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin, fall for The Loving Servant by Carlo Goldoni. More than 30 years after playing the title role at the Comédie-Française, Catherine Hiegel directs a sunny Isabelle Carré in the skin of Coraline, the famous servant.

The story? Ottavio, a rich merchant from Verona, is manipulated by his second wife, Beatrice, who seeks to exclude her son Florindo from the succession to favor her own son, Lélio. For this, she persuades Ottavio to kick Florindo out of the house. However, Coraline, Florindo’s faithful servant, refuses to let her friend fall into injustice. She then devises a series of clever ruses to restore order and ensure that Florindo regains his rightful rights. A must see!

Thirty years later, she returns to her hometown to prepare her mother’s body. This return revives old resentments and exposes truths long hidden among his siblings.

Recently, Canadian director Xavier Dolan won the award for best direction for the adaptation of this work into a TV series at the 38th edition of the Prix Gémeaux.
