Big win for ten-man FCSB in the Europa League. Beat PAOK Thessaloniki away

FCSB achieved a big victory with the Greek team PAOK Thessaloniki, with the score of 1-0 (1-0), on Thursday evening at the Toumba Stadium in Thessaloniki, in the second stage of the Europa League football competition, although they played almost one half outnumbered.

In Thessaloniki, the hosts had the first opportunity, in the 9th minute, when Târnovanu headed home Baba Rahman. Taison hit the crossbar in the 28th minute, and the Bucharest team lost Lixandru, who injured his knee in the 45th+4th minute.

After another four minutes, at the last phase of the first half, Olaru recovered a ball, overtook Michailidis and passed it to Bîrligea in the box, and he scored.

The guests entered the break with an advantage, but they remained within ten in the 56th minute, after the elimination of Olaru, who received the second yellow card for a stupid handball.

Târnovanu made an excellent save on the header sent by Despodov, in the 62nd minute. Bîrligea was also injured, being replaced in the 78th minute.

Daniel Bîrligea: We have six points, no one will steal them from us!

Daniel Bîrligea, the striker of the FCSB team, scored the victory goal of the Bucharest team in Thessaloniki and says that he is proud of his teammates.

“I am very proud of all the sacrifices made and with the refereeing a bit on their side. But we gave it our all. The goal is important for the team. I dedicate it to Lixandru. The goal, let’s say it’s not my credit, it’s Olaru’s credit. It’s half and half. He fought, I was there. We had to fight. We were 1-0 and we fought every ball, we ran, we all fought, and God helped us. We have six points, we put them there, nobody steals them from us. We have six more matches in which we can score points. Now we are thinking about the match in Buzău. We are sorry for the injuries, let’s hope they stay out of the field as little as possible”said Bîrligea, according to News.ro.

Darius Olaru: I invented that goal, then the referee invented that red card

Darius Olaru, the player of the FCSB team, says that the phase in which he received the second yellow card was not to be sanctioned with a warning.

“We are happy that we managed to win, on a difficult pitch, on a difficult evening, but in the end we managed to get three points. I invented that goal, then the referee invented that red card. I drove the ball 30-40 meters, with a man behind me, I pushed myself into one and when I pushed myself I fell on the ball, he gave me a yellow card. At the same stage, a colleague was injured. I’m sorry, I’m glad I didn’t lose because of me. At Lixandru, I think it’s a pretty serious injury! I’m sorry and I hope he comes back soon. I didn’t see the rest of the second half, I stayed in the dressing room for 35 minutes and prayed that everything would be fine”said Darius Olaru.
