After winning against Ferencvaros with difficulty last week, Anderlecht traveled to Real Sociedad for the second day of the Europa League. A complicated move on paper but the Mauves did it! They won 2 goals to 1 and achieved a perfect record, 6 out of 6.
However, everything started very badly for Anderlecht. Picked up cold after 5 minutes of play by a goal from Martin, David Hubert’s men did not let themselves be defeated. Vasquez first restored equality in the 28th minute before Leoni, with a magnificent strike, allowed the Mauves to take the advantage 6 minutes from the break.
The Spaniards then pushed and created many dangerous chances in the second half but Anderlecht held on! Anderlecht are therefore in a very good position before hosting Ludogorts next week.

Disastrous start to the match for Anderlecht who conceded a goal after just 5 minutes. After Zanka lost the ball, Umar Sadiq recovered the ball and crossed at the far post for Pablo Marin. He didn’t need to be asked to open the score.
Another big mistake from Zanka at the quarter-hour mark. The defender misjudged a cross from the left which finally found Sadiq’s head. The striker’s shot went just over the target.
After a good Anderlecht sequence, the Mauves managed to restore equality in the 28th minute. Found by Dreyer between two Sociedad defenders, Vasquez faced the goalkeeper and crossed his shot to equalize.
What a goal from Leoni! 5 minutes from the break, Rits completely missed a free kick. The ball was returned by the Real Sociedad defense to Leoni’s feet. Without asking any questions, the young Belgian sent a cannonball into Remiro’s top corner!
4 minutes later, the Spaniards came very close to equalizing. A long clearance from Remiro found Oskarsson, Simic missed his tackle and offered a shooting window. The powerful shot found the crossbar.
In the second half, Real Sociedad multiplied the chances. After 66 minutes of play, a cross from the left found the head of Turientes who licked the upright.
