A little over a year ago, a 31-year-old man was shot 17 times in his car in the middle of Rue Wayez, in Anderlecht. Since then, the investigation has continued and several arrests were made this week.
On September 14, 2023, a shooting broke out in the middle of the night on Wayez Street, in Anderlechtleading to the death of a 31-year-old man. The victim, injured by gunfire, died on the spot, in his vehicle. An investigating judge was then requested by the Brussels prosecutor’s office for the murder.
“Two suspects were arrested in Belgium and four in France“, announced the Brussels public prosecutor’s office this Thursday confirming information from the newspaper The Parisian.
The two suspects arrested in our country both have Belgian nationality and were placed under arrest warrant for, as perpetrator or co-perpetrator, assassination, burglary, climbing or false (car) keys, arson at night and criminal association with a view to committing an assassination, by the investigating judge.
The four suspects in France, all French nationals, were arrested by French authorities following a request for mutual legal assistance on Tuesday October 1. A European arrest warrant was issued against them with a view to their surrender to Belgium, for the same facts. They were detained in France on the basis of European arrest warrants.
“The investigation revealed that three of the suspects arrested in France were allegedly present at the time of the events. The fourth suspect is suspected of having transported the three others from France to Belgium“, indicates the prosecution. “The first elements of the investigation would seem to indicate that there was a mistaken identity regarding the victim“. The facts seem to take place in the drug world.
