Near Perpignan, a new DIY store will open next to this supermarket

A brand new store will be built near Perpignan. In the coming days, Weldom will start the construction of its future point of sale Canet-en-Roussillon (Pyrénées-Orientales). The DIY sign will be stuck to the Lidl from Avenue des Alizés.

The sixth Weldom of the Pyrénées-Orientales

Contacted by News PerpignanWeldom confirms the creation of this new point of sale. It will be adjoining the Lidl, on the current vacant lot between the Clap Ciné and the discount supermarket. The construction site will start in the coming days, “during October”.

The construction of this store was the subject of an appeal by two competing brands: Brico Dépôt and Castorama. Finally, the national commercial development commission (CNAC) ruled in favor of Weldom’s project.

Its opening is hoped for next spring. This will be the brand’s sixth store in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Until now, Weldom is located in meadows, Thuir, Argelès-sur-Mer, Latour-Bas-Elne et Saillagouse.

For its opening, Weldom will hire 15 people. The recruitment campaign is planned for the beginning of 2025.

Shared parking with Lidl

The DIY store will share its parking with that of Lidl. The two brands will have 111 shared spaces. Nearly 40 trees will be planted there to provide shade for vehicles.

A little over 4,000 m² of green spaces will be integrated around the new building. Climbing plants should also adorn the facade. The project also includes the installation of several insect hotels and bird nesting boxes. Finally, half of the roof (i.e. 1,487 m²) will be covered with photovoltaic panels.
