Dominique Pelicot facing five other unsolved cases of rape or murder

Dominique Pelicot is far from having finished with justice. For a month, the trial of the septuagenarian, baptized the “Mazan rapist”, and 50 co-accused continues to be held at the assizes, in . All are accused of having participated in the rapes of Gisèle Pelicot placed under the influence of chemical submission.

At the same time, information continues to filter through regarding other investigations carried out by the judicial police. Thus, unexplained (cold case) in which the investigators harbor some suspicions concerning Dominique Pelicot, ex-real estate agent. Cases which are added to the two other indictments to which the accused is already the subject. 20 Minutes takes stock.

Attacks on women working in real estate

The common point of all these cases lies in the modus operandi. As explained The Parisianthe service of cold cases uses a system for analyzing violence associated with crimes (Salvac). This software thus makes it possible to link potential serial crimes. The five cases identified by the software all concern sexual assault (including one fatality) of women working in real estate agencies.

The attacker makes an appointment under a false name and carries out the act in the agency or in an apartment, taking advantage of being alone with the real estate agent. This was the case in February 1994 in , in Morbihan, with Danielle H. (28 years old) and a few days later in , in the North with Céline D. (26 years old). In September 1995, another Céline D. was raped in , in .

Then, it was in Berre-l’Etang, in Bouches-du-Rhône, that Christine G. was found dead, in her agency, in May 2000. Finally, in March 2004, the attack on Françoise L., also in his agency, is interrupted by a witness. In most of these cases, a DNA sample was taken.

Two indictments and a hiccup

In 2010, the year he moved to Mazan with his wife Gisèle, Dominique Pelicot had already had dealings with the police, as revealed Free Midday. Aged 57, he was arrested in July in a shopping center in Seine-et-, caught filming under the skirts of customers with a miniature camera hidden in a pen.

He will get away with a fine of 100 euros during a discreet criminal composition. However, following this story, his DNA is taken and entered in the genetic fingerprint file (Fnaeg). Shortly after, his profile was recognized in a case of attempted rape of a young 18-year-old woman, in , also in Seine-et-Marne, during an apartment visit, in 1999.

However, justice will not deem it useful to reopen the investigation which resulted in a dismissal of the case in 2001. It will be necessary to wait more than twenty years, in 2022, for Dominique Pelicot to be indicted in this case of attempted rape on EB. Another indictment was issued, also in 2022, against the retiree for the rape and murder of Sophie Narme in 1991 in . Aged 23, the young woman had been, like E. B., drugged with ether, at gunpoint, during a false appointment to view an apartment.

How many more cases?

Other criminals are known to have attacked real estate agents. In the current state of the investigations, these five new investigations therefore do not allow Dominique Pelicot to be implicated. But over how many cases could his shadow still hover?

Asked by The ParisianMe Florence Rault, lawyer for EB and the Narme family, believes that “research should not be limited to only the listed cold cases”. “Many victims of attempted rape do not file a complaint. A predator does not wait until retirement to become one and does not take such a long break,” she emphasizes.

On the contrary, Me Béatrice Zavarro, Dominique Pelicot’s lawyer, considers these investigations as a means of “darkening the character of Dominique Pelicot a little more”.
