a giant statue of Donald Trump completely naked causes controversy

A 13 meter high statue representing the candidate for the White House completely naked, installed near Las Vegas, was strongly condemned by the Republican camp on Monday September 30.

An unflattering representation. A 13-meter-high puppet of a completely naked Donald Trump was installed last weekend near Las Vegas, along Interstate Highway 15 in Nevada.

The nude, titled Crooked and Obscene (twisted and obscene, in French) aims to make people think about “transparency – or its absence – in politics”, according to the organizers, cited by the American media The Wrap.

An “offensive” puppet for Nevada Republicans

In a statement, the Nevada Republican Party strongly condemned the “deplorable” statue representing its champion for the White House.

“As families drive through Las Vegas, they are forced to see this offensive puppet, intentionally designed to shock rather than engage in constructive dialogue,” the Republicans said.

“Democrats, particularly Kamala Harris, continue to prioritize shock value over substance,” they continue.

The statue was to be removed on the evening of Monday September 30, according to the British channel SkyNews, before being moved for a tour of the key states in the American presidential election. Nevada is one of the “swing states”, these undecided and contested states between Democrats and Republicans. In 2020, Joe Biden just came first in Nevada, with 50.1% of the vote.

Not the first naked Trump statue

This is not the first time that a nude representation of Donald Trump has interfered in the campaign. In 2016, five statues bearing his likeness appeared in public places in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Seattle and Cleveland.
