FIRE ALERT – During the preparation work for the 800th anniversary of the Cathedral, which will be celebrated in 2025, a fire broke out at the top of the building this Monday
Monday, around 6:30 p.m., a fire broke out in the attic of Beauvais Cathedral (Oise). According to Actu.fr, around fifteen emergency vehicles were seen on site. Smoke came from Saint-Pierre de Beauvais Cathedral, which has the highest vaulted ceiling in the world.
Fifty firefighters were on site to respond to the fire. The building is preparing to celebrate its 800th anniversary in 2025, and work is currently underway to prepare for the event. It appears that sparks from work carried out in the attic were the cause of the fire.
Workers put out the fire before help arrived
Luckily, the damage was less thanks to the intervention of the workers present. The latter extinguished the fire and then called emergency services to monitor a possible resumption of the flames.
The large fire ladder was deployed when they arrived to ensure that everything was in order. The stripping and temperature reading were carried out.
