UFC or boxing? Dana White says Ngannou would have won better in the octagon

Dana White questions the figures announced on Francis Ngannou’s boxing earnings and defends the UFC’s financial model.

Dana White did not mince his words about the gains of Francis Ngannou in boxing. According to White, the idea that Ngannou made more money by leaving the UFC for boxing is simply a myth. He explained that all this buzz around the huge sums in boxing is exaggerated and often based on exceptions where ultra-wealthy investors, such as those from Saudi Arabiafinance these events. White even called this perception“total bullshit”emphasizing the fact that Ngannou could have gained a lot more by facing Jon Jones.

Ngannou, who fought Tyson Fury et Anthony Joshuawould have collected nearly 30 million dollars in boxing, but for Dana Whitethese numbers don’t tell the whole story. He claims the UFC’s offers were more than what Ngannou actually pocketed. He added: “I know the real numbers”insisting that the UFC remains the best financial option for fighters in the long term.

White also explained that boxing, contrary to what many think, does not work without the support of Saudi billionaires who pump money into organizing these fights. Without them, boxing matches simply would not be viable, and even these investors eventually tire of this model.
