The urban sheepfold of Lyon is preparing to lead its thirty sheep over 35 kilometers and 10 municipalities in the metropolis for the fourth edition of its small transhumance.

The traditional Tête d’Or geese will have competition on Wednesday morning in the paths of the famous Lyon park. The thirty sheep from the urban sheepfold of Lyon will begin their “small transhumance” annual. Four days of itinerant grazing which will take the animals from park to park in around ten towns in the metropolis, even to the green Monts d’Or, to the north of the city.
This is the fourth edition of this event which had met with some success in previous years. Taking a few stretches of sidewalks, to pass the Croix-Rousse hill in particular, the herd will cover 35 kilometers in total.
To the rhythm of the sheep
“Stops are made regularly to respect the rhythm of the animalsspecifies the Lyon town hall. Which is also a way of publicizing and promoting the initiatives and emblematic places of the territory. Throughout the route, city dwellers can question the professional and volunteer shepherds”.

The days are accessible to the public with compulsory registration. Guinguette evenings are also planned with entertainment and visits to farms. This will be the case during the closing day, in Limonest, on Saturday. But for now, meet at Allée des Ormeaux, at the north entrance to the park on Wednesday at 10 a.m., with many children there.
