Update: it seems that IDF Mobilités updated their site too quickly, we were told that the function would be deployed in March 2025, and that the cost of tickets will be higher.

Friends from Ile-de-France, did you think that purchasing single tickets and weekly and monthly packages on the app was the pinnacle of innovation? The Navigo Liberté+ on smartphone goes even further.

After an experimental phase, this new option is arriving, it promises to further simplify our travels. We explain to you what this changes.

Concretely, what is Navigo Liberté+?

Navigo Liberté+ is a service that allows you to travel individually throughout Île-de-France, by validating with your phone. No more t+ tickets purchased individually, or the monthly or weekly package.

The principle is simple: you subscribe to the service via the application (with a RIB, you don’t escape paperwork), and then you travel by validating with your phone each time you travel. When entering the bus or metro, and also when exiting for the RER and trains. At the end of the month, we do the accounts and bill you for your travel.

Preferential rates

And in terms of prices, what does that mean? Hold on tight: it starts at €1.73 per trip by metro, RER or train in zones 1-2. It’s already cheaper than the single price of €2.50 depending on your journeys. And it can go up to €4 for a trip to all zones (1-5).

Mode of transportation Zone(s) Rates
Metro / RER / Train 1-2 1,73 €
Metro / RER / Train 2-3 / 3-4 / 4-5 1,76 €
Metro / RER / Train 2-4 / 3-5 2,32 €
Metro / RER / Train 1-3 2,56 €
Metro / RER / Train 2-5 3,20 €
Metro / RER / Train 1-4 3,32 €
Metro / RER / Train 1-5 4,00 €
Bus / tramway 1-5 1,73 €
Bus longue distance 3,46 €
On Roissybus 14,50 €
On Orlybus 10,30 €

But the most interesting thing is the capping system. During the same day, you will never pay more than the Navigo Day rate corresponding to your zones. For example, maximum €8.65 for two zones. Once this limit is reached, all your additional journeys are free.

For whom, for what?

So, who is this billing option for? If you’re the type who takes transportation irregularly, are tired of juggling between t+ tickets and origin-destination tickets, or find that the monthly Navigo is a little too expensive for your needs, the Navigo Liberté+ is made for you.

This is particularly interesting if you travel by metro, RER, bus and tram throughout Île-de-France, but not often enough to justify a monthly subscription. In short, it’s a flexible solution.

Beyond ease of use (no more queues at the counters!), the Navigo Liberté+ on a smartphone has other advantages. For example, you can track your expenses in real time on the application. And if one month you travel more than usual, no worries: you can always load a Navigo Week or Month plan on the same phone.
